What are you currently working on?
Currently working on taking our conversation management platform ‘OpenDialog’ towards its v1.0 release – as well as using it in a number of ongoing projects to keep our current clients happy and satisfied.
What is the most challenging aspect of your role?
At the moment the biggest challenge for me is finding the balance between maintaining an ongoing open-source piece of software (OpenDialog) that is being used in a number of live projects and the desire to make big changes to facilitate new features. Feels like as a team, we’re hitting the right balance at the moment though
What would you say are three key attributes required for the role?
A desire to learn new techniques and tools, keeping a focus on the end-user and an ability to listen to and take on board everyone’s perspective
What most excites you about your role, what gets you up in the morning?
If you haven’t gathered by now, I’m very excited to be working on OpenDialog, especially with the renewed focus we now have on it. It’s been a real journey to get it to where it is now, and this still feels like the beginning of the journey. I must also give a shout out to the entire GSL team who make everyday fun and interesting. And I’m not just saying that because they’ll read this!
What are you currently reading, can you recommend anything?
Currently finishing up ‘Humankind’ by Rutger Bregman that my girlfriend bought for me to help my growing sense of despair about the current state of the world. It’s been a great read and has genuinely changed my perspective. Highly recommended.
Cats or dogs?
Don’t tell my cat, but dogs….
